Rogan, who’s full name is actually Gregory Rogan, is this summer’s Target GO International Designer. He has designed a ready-to-wear affordable collection for women, available exclusively and for a limited time at Target stores.
When I first saw the commercials for this line, I wasn’t thrilled. Even several days later, I was still not feeling it. Now that I’ve taken the time to look over more pieces, I think the choices highlighted in the television commercial really do not do the line justice.
What stood out to me in the t.v. commercial was that it seemed predominantly black-and-white and animal prints. Haven’t animal prints already been done and died for now? I thought I wasn’t going to be ready for animal prints again for another decade.
The part that intrigued me about the collection is that the fabrics are organic and natural. Ah, a return to natural fabrics. Eco-friendly fashion strikes my fancy. So, with a little renewed interest, I checked out the line more in-depth.
Evaluation: Not bad. Not my favorite Target GO International line (I think the Jovovich-Hawk line gets my vote for favorite!), but not my least favourite, either. Let’s explore a bit, shall we?
Yes, there is a lot of white and black. But if you’re going to design a ready-to-wear collection for the masses, it’s a practical idea. A few pieces that can be mixed and matched can really extend the consumer’s wardrobe.
There are a couple of outfits that remind me of things you’d see on little girls—a romper and a short plaid dress. But I like that return to something a bit traditional and sweet. Not necessarily good for all body types, but isn’t that almost always true of high fashion?
Finally, the bathing suits are way sexy. I can picture them being described in a Jackie Collins novel. And they’re one-pieces! Hooray for the mix of sexalicious and modesty!
